Tatum was born in little town in Alabama, he is the oldest of eight children. Being energetic and quite problematic as a teen, and apart from video was invited to Miami to a fashion-show. During the casting in Orlando he got noticed successful on the runway, but then in 2004 Tatum got a small role in «CSI: Miami» and a few other unnoticed parts in movies.
‘Step Up’ became a real step up to a big screen such as to a big love. Released in 2006, the film told a story that had something in common with Channing’s own, and became a big hope for dancing teenagers. Meeting Jenna Dewan during filming, he began dating her shortly after filming had finished, keeping acting. ‘A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints’ released the same year, Tatum said it was his first serious dramatic role, and got positive responds from critics, which made his screen-career steady and successful in further.
